Scott's Response - email to MTV News
«
on:
April 02, 2008, 07:37:18 AM »
the actual statement:
"After reading the comment by Duff, Matt, Dave and the illustrious 'Guitar Hero,' Saul Hudson, a.k.a. Slash, I find it humorous that the so-called four 'founding members' of Velvet Revolver, better known to themselves as 'the Project' before I officially named the band, would decide to move on without me after I had already claimed the group dead in the water on March 20 in Glasgow," Weiland explained. "In response to Slash's comment regarding my commitment [to the band], I have to say it is a blatant and tired excuse to cover up the truth. The truth of the matter is that the band had not gotten along on multiple levels for some time. On a musical level, there were moments of joy, inspiration, fun ... at times. But let's not forget the multiple trips to rehab every member of the band had taken (with the exception of one member — no need to mention his name).
"Personally speaking, I choose to look forward to the future and performing with a group of friends I have known my entire life, people who have always had my back," Weiland continued. "This also speaks to my commitment to my music and my fellow bandmates in [Stone Temple Pilots] and to the fans who I feel would much rather watch a group of musicians who enjoy being together as opposed to a handful of discontents who at one time used to call themselves a gang."
In conclusion, Weiland warned fans not to be "fooled by veiled trickery," and even wished Velvet Revolver his best. "Good hunting, lads — I think Sebastian Bach would be a fantastic choice."

Scott and Bach were the two frontrunners before the band chose Scott.

He sounds a little upset, but it's understandable since Slash placed a lot of the blame on Scott.
I believe what he says about the band not having gotten on on many levels is true.
Anyways, I hope this is just gonna be it, no more comments, blogs, interviews about this, just leave it and move on with new projects like Scott says he is gonna do.
It's nice he wishes them good luck.

While I wish BOTH sides could have acted with more dignity and released diplomatic statements, I must say that Scott's response is fair comment, in light of the circumstances. We'll never know the full extent of the internal conflicts between them (what we all know is everything that's been reported in the press, from the DUI to the cancellations blah blah blah) - well, at least until one of them writes an autobiography! - so all I will say is that while it does sadden me, I'm glad that they have now parted ways and I hope they will put this incident behind them (eventually) and I wish them all the best.
I was at their Brixton gig on the 25th and I have to say, they all acted professionally and it was an amazing gig, although those in the know were fully aware of the tension between them. They did not play half-heartedly and none of them disappointed me - I know Scott certainly didn't.

Well for one, I am pretty sure Weiland said it out of sarcasm. But even if he didn't, it's not like the band needs to see Bach in the studio tomorrow - they need to figure out the best strategy and dig for as many names as possible before they start jamming with anyone.

That truly sucks
It's so sad when bands break like that with all that bad vibe around.
I guess shit happens. Anyway, I love these 5 guys so wherever they'll be, I will surely look forward to their music.

Agree 100%
As much as I love Duff, Slash, Matt & Dave I WILL NOT BOTHER LISTENING TO THEM IF THEY HIRE SEBASTIAN BACH!!
I hate him. He's an Axl wannabe and he's completly arrogant... If they want to have another problem on their hands... Hire him
Sorry... Carry on guys. Don't mind me.
Scott's still one of my alltime favorite vocalists and I will still love him and his music no matter where he is

The band should just end now. Dave, Slash, Matt and Duff can start a new band, but not mess with the VR name (Especially if they choose some washed up loser like Sebastian Bach).

Sebastian Bach is the one name I did not want to hear mentioned in relation to all of this, the guy is a tool...Its on the Kerrang website aswell that a 'source close to the band' has said that Bach is in the running.i sincerely hope this is bullshit...
Anyway, thanks for the memories Scott.I for one am gonna miss you.You may have had your problems but my God you were a wonder and a marvel to watch live.Really sad to see you go..

It really fucking saddens me that I may never hear Scott singing The Last Fight live again (I wonder if he will do any VR songs with STP? haha probably not).

people are readin into the bach thing too much. It was a joke quite obviously. Bach would never go to VR as he is swinging from axl's ass hairs.

The Seb Bach comment was dripping with sarcasm.
The plot thickens and the story turns even more sour.
I just hope all the statements going back and forth end here. Its a sad end to a band that was great.

Well, I too thought the statement was pretty fair and a lot better than how he lashed out at Matt. It had it's fair share of jabs, but nothing below the belt. It sucks that it has to end this way with all the lame press release internet bull shit, but it is what it is. It's nice to finally have a definite answer to things than to be left hanging.
PLEASE DEAR GOD NOT BACH!!! He's got good stage presence...I'll give him that...but he screamed the entire set and I had no clue what on earth he was shrieking...saw him when he opened for Guns in '06...Still, thought the comment was pretty funny.

The Scott press release was totally sarcastic, as usual, in case you couldn't tell ("illustrious guitar hero"?)! He obviously mentioned Bach because he doesn't think Bach would do a good job! Come on people, read between the lines and not the literal meaning word for word. Considering it's coming from Scott who is departing from the band, this was total sarcasm...
Bach might be swing from Axl's nuts, but he would take the VR gig in a milli-second if offered the job. People get the wrong idea about he being on Axl's side, but he's been friends with all the "Gn'R" guys since the 80's...Slash in particular. He might have been pissed that he didn't get the VR gig the first time around and might have said some things, but make no mistake that he wanted the VR gig then and he probably wants it even more now.
